I’ve also been looking at updating the ancient version that’s posted in the WordPress Plugin Directory, but because of the way the repository packages things I would need to rename it so that it will automatically install into the correct directory. There would also be issues with the config.inc.php file being overwritten during updates unless I can figure out how to detect it’s presence from within the plugin.

Both of these issues are likely to cause breakage with the first auto-update, so if you’re using the plugin let me know and I’ll make sure you have an updated version before I update the repository. That way I can avoid breaking mirrors all over the place.

It seems that the solution for 2.6 may be to change the line 60 in WP-DomainMirror.php from:

$options = unserialize(get_option(‘wpdm_options’)); // get the database dettings

To:

$options = get_option(‘wpdm_options’); // get the database dettings

But that doesn’t seem to be required with 2.6.1. I’ll need to roll the upgrade back on my test database to check it with 2.6.

This is long overdue, but I’ve just uploaded a fix to get DomianMirror working with WordPress 2.3. Thanks to SecondeVue for that. It’s currently just a new version of WP-DomainMirror.php, so you need to replace that one file and you should be back in business. The zip file was created on a Mac so Widows users will see some other files in there – these can be ignored. I’ll put together a full archive tomorrow.

I’ve updated my WordPress Domain Mirror plugin to add a few new features:

• The WordPress Tagline can now be set for each domain.
• A “Get Current Domain” button to allow the import of the existing WordPress settings has been added to the Admin screen to save on typing.
• Buttons to allow the clearing of existing entries have been added to the Admin screen.

Earlier in the year I went looking for a domain name that was a little easier to spell than McAleavy.org and bought LightPainting.org with the intention of using it as an alternative domain for this site. Initially I set up a redirect from the new domain to the old one, but decided that it would be better if the site changed it’s name based on where it was accessed from – so I set up both domains to point to this site directly. Unfortunately WordPress doesn’t handle this very well as the site name and URLs are part of the site’s configuration. As I couldn’t find an existing plugin to fix this problem, I wrote one.
