These shots are from a recent shoot with India, taken just before she moved back to Poland from Aberdeen. All are daylight, with the exception of Eidolon - which is a single-exposure, move-the-model shot, lit with an incandescent modelling light and a torch. I recently discovered the work of Alexey Titarenko - truly outstanding stuff, so I keep trying to think of ways to add movement to my images.

You could say that this was one of those images that nearly didn’t happen. I last worked with Lelly 6 months ago during her pregnancy - you’ll find the image we took then, Mother and Daughter, in the Pregnancy gallery - and I’ve been meaning to shoot her again ever since.

Dee wanted some pictures in her new corset, and asked me to shoot them. So for her first time as a model she not only had to deal with my long-exposure shots and cramp-inducing poses, but had to do so in a corset and heels. Thankfully she survived, and with these results. I think they may have surprised a few people.

I’ve taken several shots that incorporated projected images, but these have always involved creating a transparency in advance as I used an old 35mm slide projector. With this shot I used a laptop and a digital projector, which allowed me to shoot the projected image on the spot and made it easy to re-shoot it to suit the final image. Thanks to Ellie for her patience as both model and projection screen.

I decided to try using white LEDs as a primary light source to create more of a contrast to my usual warm incandescent light. Chelsea Darling graciously agreed to be my experimental model, and we spent a couple of hours sticking them to her fingers to see what would happen. The light wasn’t nearly as harsh as I feared, and produced a wonderfully soft skin tone. More experimentation to come with this sort of lighting.
