Lyn

By McAleavy Posted on 25th Apr, 2007 Posted in Photography Tagged with canon 5d, lightpainting, lyn, nude

I shot Lyn for the first time yesterday – mostly lightpainting, but also a little 5×4 work that’s destined for albumen printing when I can find a good quality paper that doesn’t react badly to the sensitiser.

Duracell

By McAleavy Posted on 21st Apr, 2007 Posted in Photography Tagged with broken, canon 5d, joanna, lightpainting, nude

I think the switch on my faithful old Duracell torch may be failing, as the brightness seems to be somewhat variable these days. It’s not the batteries or the bulb, so I may, sadly, have to retire it and buy …

By McAleavy Posted on 14th Apr, 2007 Posted in Photography, Ramblings Tagged with albumen, broken, photo, printing

I’ve decided to have a go at making some albumen prints, so I spent the evening breaking eggs and separating the white from the yolk. Having witnessed the fate of a good dozen of its fellows, one egg made a …

A couple of weeks ago I dusted off my old Nikon FE and shot some Kodak HIE infrared of Skin. I finally got around to processing and scanning it and, as expected, it’s made her blonde. Infrared film does the …

Cold transfers

By McAleavy Posted on 15th Feb, 2007 Posted in Photography Tagged with 5x4, 679, landscape, polaroid

Working with Polaroid material in the field can be a bit hit-and-miss, particularly when attempting transfers in the cold – it seems to always end up as a sticky, but colourful mess. Last time out I tried using warm water …

Landscape lightpainting

By McAleavy Posted on 11th Feb, 2007 Posted in Photography Tagged with canon 5d, landscape, lightpainting, mcinnes

Last Sunday I dug out my big torches and went over to Lanark to do some night shooting with McInnes. I discovered that my DIY radio shutter release can trigger my 5D from further away than I can hear, so …
